Mark 10_ Bible Study “How hard is it for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God”

When Jesus was talking to the rich man and told him to sell all that he has, give money to the poor and follow him, the man got sad and went away because the Bible says that he had many possessions. He didn’t tell him this because he wanted that man to be poor, he said that because we must be willing to let go of our worldly ways and obtain our riches God’s way. For most people it’s challenging to let go of the things of this world to walk after the Lord because their identity is lost in their stuff. The truth is that God wants us to have an abundance and an overflow of goods, but he does not want the goods to have us. Yes, this is easier said than done, but we must be willing to give up what’s in our hands to get what’s in His.

This reminded Peter than they, the disciples, have left all to follow him and he responded to Peter saying… “everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭10‬:‭29‬-‭30‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When we give up what’s we have to follow after Jesus, we can clearly see that the Lord has a desire to replace what we have given up by multiplying it back to us. One translation says that we are “rewarded.”
