Get in Faith to Lose the Weight
This past Sunday my Pastor ministered a word that spoke directly to me when it comes to my journey to lose weight and get in better shape. He was teaching us how faith goes hand in hand with works; without the partnership of the two, it\’s almost impossible to win a faith battle. This word hit me with revelation… it made me realize that I could not accomplish the goal that I\’d been aiming for without actually being in faith. The work of it all was just absolutely in vain if I had nothing to look forward to with confidence.
The word says, \”For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.\” James 2:26
What is a Faith battle?
As a believer, we don\’t strive for what we are desiring without first believing God. This means, you must get in faith about it. The Bible says, \”Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.\” Hebrews 11:1
Faith is a force that causes what you are believing for to manifest into your physical reality; it\’s the tool used by the believer to live a supernatural life; faith is expectation. When you are operating in faith, you are confident that the thing you are believing for Will come to pass. This is because you are standing on the truth, which is the word of God. So, faith is a force that will show up when you get a revelation of something God says regarding the situation that you are dealing with.
The Faith Battle is won by the believer who refuses to be moved by their present circumstances but believes the word of God instead. This is because the believer is confident in the fact that what God says is truth and will manifest. They realize that the resistance operating in their lives is a demonic force trying to make them doubt or fear the possibilities of failure rather than believing God. The believer who refuses to be moved by what they see but walks by faith always wins! \”For we walk by faith, not by sight.\” 2 Corinthians 5:7
Getting in Faith
Before I fully dedicated my life to the LORD it seemed to be very easy to just work out and shed weight whenever I set my mind to it. Ever since I came into living by faith on purpose, it\’s like there has been a strong force coming against me making it nearly impossible to get rid of the unwanted pounds. In fact, it seems as though I\’ve been doing more work, but actually going backwards on the scale. Crazy, right?
Well, I have found that before you actually decide to get saved and operate in faith on purpose, you are no threat to the enemy. He is not moved by someone who is just existing as a believer, but the believer who is actively in the word of God and using the word to live life on purpose threatens his very existence in the earth.
The word says that \”The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.\” John 10:10 Satan (or the adversary) is after the word of God that is taking root in your heart. When you are a believer that is meditating in the word, becoming renewed and reprogrammed by the word this will cause you to get revelation of the authority that you have as a believer. When the revelation shows up, you begin to believe and have confidence that the things God spoke in His word will come to pass in your life; when you are facing a problem, the word will have precedence over your present circumstance, meaning that faith is on the scene.
Faith + Works = Domination
Faith alone does not work. You must work while operating in faith. You can have faith, but if you don\’t do the work necessary to bring what you desire into the physical, faith will die. If you are believing for something, but you just sit around waiting for it to knock on your door, you will die waiting.
Faith is motivation to take action. When operating in faith, consistency is key. It will be easy to want to give up because the resistance that the enemy will throw your way will make it seem as though your faith is not working, but you must stay strong in faith, putting the word in your eyes and ears until what you are believing for has come to pass. Oftentimes, it will always look the worse when you are close to the breakthrough because the enemy does not want you to win, but being persistent will pay off.
Reaching the Breakthrough
Living by faith isn\’t always easy, but it\’s easier than you think. The voice of the LORD will always guide you in your walk of faith, but you have to stay tuned in to reach your breakthrough.
For far too long, I\’ve been trying to work out and eat right to shed the weight, not realizing that I needed supernatural help with this process. I didn\’t believe that God really cared about my journey from fat to fab too much because there was no promise in the Bible that spoke directly to losing weight. I sort of felt like I was living in vain to care so much about my appearance, but the truth is… the way that I look seems to have a negative impact on my self-image. This means that I cannot operate in the boldness that I need to when it comes to spreading to word of God. This negative self-perspective has brought on several insecurities and even caused a lack of obedience in some cases because I had a tendency to care too much about what other people were thinking about me rather than what God thinks… which is exactly what the enemy wants.
I now understand how much I should be concerned about getting in the right state of mind when it comes to the way God feels about me and this will ultimately cause me to get energized and excited to share more of my testimony with the world. Operating in boldness will certainly allow me to impact more people with God\’s word.
The enemy is after our identity. If Satan can get the people of God to doubt themselves, then he can continue to operate with illegal behavior in the earth, hurting God\’s people and delaying what is inevitable for him.
But God will get the Glory! This body is a temple bought at a high price and I will use it to glorify God, beginning with my image of it. I know that He has begun a good work in me and He will complete it.
